Bug.

April 17, Jerseyville.

Nicolas threw up water all day with clockwork regularity yesterday and I got really worried that he was going to get dangerously dehydrated and end up in the hospital with an IV in his arm, a repeat of two years ago. But at eight o'clock he peed, and again at midnight, so we knew he was getting some fluids in between the trips to the bathroom. There is a virus that's been going around in the circus in the past few days, making first Mariana, then Flaco, then many others sick, but so far everybody has recovered well. Only with young children you never know.
There was Doricela's and Franco Giovanni's birthday party outside last night but we couldn't go. Dylan desperately wanted to but then said he was going to rest for a little while, plopped down on his bed and was out for the night.
I yearned to follow but needed to watch Nicolas.
Today he is better; it's one o clock and he hasn't thrown up, but I make sure I give him little food and water at a time still.

So hard when they get sick! Just tears a mama's heart right out! I'm sure he'll be fine in another day or so and you'll wonder what you were worried about. :)

Thank you, Valerie, for continuing to favor us with your commentaries on circus family and life. Hope your sons are doing better. Your photos of small towns along the route are priceless. We can never forget the support that these communities have given to the circus over the years. And I'm pleased that Kelly Miller is repaying that continued local support with a first-rate performance. Having lived in St. Louis from 1983 to 2006, I explored many of those towns, many of which are experiencing crumbling infrastructure--and their colorful histories along with it.

I hope this note finds you and your family neither throwing "up"- or your hands in frustration.

I hope Nicolas is feeling better, and that no one else is feeling worst!

All the best to you!

Thank you all, the kids are feeling better, now it's Fridman's turn, after mine, but nothing that bad (especially after last night... I'm writing on April 20th, first opportunity to check the blog.)
